About Me

My name is Ian Mallinson I am a computer engineer and sales person I have worked in the P.C. Industry for 10 years and I have had an interest in them long before. Malcomp started Business in Feb 1999 after A company called ComputerCare (S.W.) ceased trading, I was shop manager for them for 3 years previous (I was not a director and as such did not have any decision making power) and because of this I built a reputation for honest impartial advice and most importantly getting the job done in the quickest and cheapest way. This philosophy has helped my customers save thousands of pounds in I.T. running costs and has also solved their problems with I.T. I am proud to say that all of my customers know of at least one other person who is a customer of mine. the reason for this is that this makes me accountable for the work I do. Finding a P.C. engineer / supplier in Cornwall is relatively easy, but finding a good one is not. this is mainly due to their lack of accountability, and unfortunately most of them have to make their money and run to keep in business. whereas I am very accountable due to my close knit customer base, and because of this I will advise you on the best solution to your problem. Due to the size of Malcomp it make it very easy to be flexible In the way that the business is run i.e. consultant, engineer, total package installation. the only downside to this is that I can become extremely busy at times, but I am always available on the phone, Also to combat this problem I Have a queuing system for jobs if things get too hectic the basis for the queue is if a customer has a catastrophic failure or they have a serious problem that is costing time or money they will become the next call, this system is best for all because it means that if a customers system if down they are assured to know that I will be able to come and sort the problem in the shortest possible time. Malcomp is a work in progress and I am always interested in suggestions or ideas to make Malcomp’s service better for you.

Consultancy is usually used for customers that have a specific problem and need advice on where to source the equipment. This is usually equipment that Malcomp cannot supply i.e. Epos tills, Sound/Video recording equipment, Internet access, Bespoke software. The consultancy is usually done on a percentage fee, and with this I will work as a representative protecting the client from any pitfalls associated with the implementation of equipment. I am able to assess and Install complete solutions, one of the most popular is the ACT data base which is used to track and record workflow in the office, this piece of software is amazingly powerful when linked on a network it gives the users the ability to track all customer contacts and their history in seconds, and using this as an example of a total solution Malcomp is able to supply and install all of the necessary hard ware and software and configure it so the system can be used with minimal problems during the transition. Total package customers get preferential service due to the equipment being supplied and supported by Malcomp.
